Rough Cut

This is the unfinished version of our music video to the song 'Lovers Eyes' which is orginally by Mumford and Sons but we used a YouTube cover of the song. For the next few days of editing to finish it off we just need to put the ending together and adding some little touches to it too make it perfect. We need to slow down some of our other shots because it has made some of the narrative quite unclear, so by slowing down the shots hopefully this will make it more clear to the audience. The shots in black and white have worked really well how we wanted them too. They have contrasted with the colour shots and you can see the change of atmosphere with this shots. On the shots with the red balloon some of them need to be edited because of the contrast and the movement of the balloon has made it difficult for us when making it red.
The next step for us to add all the finishing clips to the video and make sure all the colouring on the video's are perfect and to make sure our narrative is clear. I am happy so far with our music video as i really like the red balloon effect and think it makes it very unique, i think once we have made all the changes for the final edit it should look even better.

Lana Del Rey album

When doing research on album covers i analysed Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' album. She has recently released a new edition to her 'Born To Die' album with a different image and different colour scheme. She has left the same layout which still links to the first album so it is still reconisable to the audience. The image in the first album is quite a powerful image because she is looking down to the camera, whereas, the image of her on her new cover she is looking directly into the camera and it really draws your eyes to the cover. She has still stuck with the nature theme which we have looked at throughout researching Indie pop and have realised this is a main theme within the genre. Even though the artist name is very big and bold, we have decided not to follow this as we think with our choice of image it would be too much for the cover. We have made sure we have followed these indie pop conventions and included them in our project, with researching the different album covers we get an idea as a group what we don't like and what we do like. This is helpful with the two different album covers as it shows the look as an artist she is trying to show, this gives us ideas for making the album cover and advert slightly different but still make it reconisable to the audience when they see them both.

Album Cover and Back Cover Idea

This is another album cover idea but with both the back and front together. We have kept the placement of the title on the front cover in the left top corner, as any where else on the image the title of the artist and album name wouldn't be reconisable. The text being in the left corner doesn't take your eye away from the image as it's such a good quality image we don't want the audience to ignore it. The back album cover is very simple but we aren't sure if we are defiantly using this image, the image still links to the whole theme at the beach and still matches the front cover. The text is very simple and easy to read on the back ground.

Ellie Snowdon, Sarah Hewitt, Kelly Senior and Catherine Kirk.

Characters
Catherine Kirk, playing the female in the music video and Ryan Hawkins playing the male lover.
Props We dont need any probs for these scenes of footage.

Special instructions
Come prepeared even though the weather is supposed to be a little sunny, bring warm clothes just in case the actors have to stand around for a while. Toilets are nearby.

Album Idea

Here is another album cover idea, we have re-arranged the text in different places. We have done this so we have a good idea of how it looks in different ways. On this design idea we have made 'Elliot Guy' bigger than the album name to make him as an artist more reconisable. The name of the album fits under his name and stands out under it, the position of the text stands out to the eye straight away. We want the text at the top of the image because of the lightness of the colour, if we put it at the bottom of the image it wont be as reconisable and the image is darker and it would be harder to read.

The second design idea is much different to the first one, the layout of the text is at the side because we don't want to direct the audience's eye's away from the image but to still be able to notice the text. 'Elliot Guy' is bigger than the album name again because we want his name to stand out and the album name is still noticable. I like this one the best because the layout of the image and the text isn't too much on the page.

Filming Today

Finally, we got to film our final shots for our music video of the relationship. This was successful as the weather held out for us and just when we had finished filming it started to rain. We had to change the plan of our location because we were going to be doing it in some fields in Newton Hall but because filming has been delayed we decided it would be best to just film in the school field. We got as many shots as we could to make sure we have filled the rest of the music video up, we tried to get more varied shots because we knew that we hadn't used enough shots when filming on the beach. We included different shots of their feet walking towards and away from the camera, hand held shots of the two having fun and just general shots of them having fun, which is what we want to show when we show these memories.

Album Cover Idea 2

This is another possible album cover idea, we took the image when we were filming for our music video in South Sheilds. This one is more striking to the audience's eye and it matches the music video with the girl and the red balloons. I think this would be an effective album cover as it shows the location we have focused everything around and it links to our story. The red balloons looks good and because it's our logo too, it would make our artist stand out with the red balloon being symbolic.

Mumford and Sons

Last night we went to see the band we are using the cover of Mumford and Sons, it was amazing. This really helped us see the way they present themselves as a band and what the stage set up was like. The feel of the arena was festively and like a carnival, and because of the genre they are in Indie Pop they used the typical conventions on their stage of outside lights and an outside feel to the whole concert, which when we have researched the genre they have used these typical indie pop conventions during their videos and album work. This has allowed us to look more at how we want to present our artist. In these images it shows that light was a main aspect during their performance and sets the mood with our music video we have used black and white which empathises the mood we are trying to set with our video and story, and the different colours we are using on our album cover.

Album Name Fonts

From the song we have choosen to the name of the album cover we have linked it all together as the song presents a relationship, we thought 'The Root Of Memories' is a good name for our album as it matches our music video of showing memories.
The Root of
Memories
This text is really effective as it stands out to the eye straight away, the bold writing would look good infront of the image we are thinking about using. 'Memories' is bigger than 'The Root Of' which stands out more, the simplicitic font is effective as it isn't too much to look at and it doesn't make it look too busy on the page.
The Root of Memories
This font is very old fashioned and sophisticated, this looks like a news heading and stands out on the page straight away with the boldness. The text seems quite romantic and matches the theme of our music video/album, with the image we are thinking of using it will stand out on top of it. Again we have used a simplictic font so not going over the top.
The Root of Memories
This font is different to the other two, we wanted to see what different font styles would look like and if we liked the look of them. This one isn't our favourite because it seems quite busy on the page, the writing still matches what we have researched. This font isn't as bold as the other two and it doesn't really stand out. However, we have sticked

Album Idea

This is an idea of the back cover of the album, we aren't defiantly going to be using this idea but it gives us a general idea of what we are wanting for the album cover. It looks really effective with the writing on top of the beach image and it's quite an iconic image for our artist as we have used the beach scene throughout our filming and images.

Clouds Problem

We wanted to include clouds in our music video and speed it up so we could see the clouds moving, the other day we filmed in lesson of the clouds for half an hour unfortunately the footage wasn't very good because the camera was trying to focus on something and the camera kept zooming in and out. When viewing it on the video maker we tryed to fast forward it to make the clouds move but it wasn't successful. When doing this again next we need to take the focus off the camera so it works, it would also help if the weather was slightly windy so the clouds move faster as when we filmed last it wasn't windy at all.

Artist Name Font

As a group we have decided to think of different artist names to use and also looked at different fonts that we think would look really good on our digi-pack cover. We decided on Elliot Guy because we thought it sounded quite unique and different to any other artists we have heard of, when researching indie pop artists they usually had quite a unique name and this is what we wanted.

Elliot Guy
We wanted a quite simple font for the name of our artist and this one is simple and the font size is a right size for the audience to view. It's clear and spaced out which makes it easier to read.
Elliot Guy

This text is quite similar to Eliza Doolittle's font, we took the idea of the bold letters but made it less girly, we wanted to make it look quite bold to stand out on the digi-pack so the audience can see clearly who the artist is, this isn't my favourite one but is still an effective font.

Elliot Guy

I really like this font because it seems very sophisticated and the music we are using matches the sophisicated theme. I think it would look really good on the album cover and when we researched different fonts they have similar fonts like this one and we think this matches the indie Pop genre.
