Lady Gaga Album Cover

I really like this album cover by Lady Gaga because it shows how individual she is as an artist. The image of her being half motor bike shows how she is very different and how her style is constantly changing along with her music. I think it works because it stands out to the audience making them be more interested in her album. The title of the album really stands out above the black background, it matches the colour scheme of the motor bike making it all link in. The name 'Born This Way' represents Lady Gaga how she is very different and tries to prove a point with the way she dresses and the songs she sings, the title links to the image showing it doesn't matter what you are, you are 'Born This Way'. The album cover works because it is so unique compared to any other artists art work and shows she is individual, it catches the audience eye which makes them more interested in Lady Gaga and what she is like as an artist. Its also very different to her other album covers which makes her fans think about the album and what she is trying to show.

  1. I wonder how much of Gaga is genuine "art" and how much of it is marketing... Is it a kind of post-modern "how much can I get away with" with the audience in on the joke, or is there an honest sense of pushing boundaries. My own relationship with Lady Gaga is very much based on my reading of her as a deconstruction of the Madonna-style self-publicising, self-obsessive star stereotyp - I like to think her going home and taking off the "Gaga" personality. The imagery on the album covers and the videos is so extreme that I can't believe she (or her design team) are not doing something quite subversive...
